Concerning the Program
Join us for a PhD program that will improve your research skills and enable you to have a significant effect on your field.
Under the direction of the North West Social Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership, Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) is offering three-year PhD studentships in Business and Management. There are programs offered in the following categories:
- Management (Entrepreneurship and Strategy) (Entrepreneurship and Strategy)
- Management (Organisation, Work and Technology) (Organisation, Work and Technology)
- Marketing Management Science
To add to our global community of scholars and students from more than 180 nations, we are seeking highly motivated doctorate candidates. We provide fully-funded PhDs through the North West Social Sciences Doctorate Training Partnership to students from the UK, the EU, and other countries who wish to enrol in one of the aforementioned doctoral programs.
LUMS is a top-ranked, quadruple-accredited management school with a strong research program. We were rated first for Research Power in the UK’s most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, recognizing the breadth and depth of our work, and joint-first for our research environment, providing the ideal atmosphere for aspiring researchers to grow and succeed.

Your PhD experience will be difficult and gratifying thanks to our PhD. Business and Management route programs’ advanced research training courses, excellent supervision by academics with global renown, and involvement in the School’s larger research community.
LUMS and the Universities of Liverpool and Manchester are partners in the ESRC North West Social Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership. Through this agreement, students from the UK, the EU, and abroad can apply for fully-funded studentships. Before being considered for ESRC financing, you must already have received an offer of admission to one of the aforementioned programs. Additionally, we will be providing financed LUMS studentships, and all ESRC competition applicants will also be given consideration for this internal financing.

Candidates must have an outstanding first degree and great Master’s level degree performance in order to join our globally renowned research environment. The qualifications you have should be in a field where you plan to pursue a PhD.
For research projects that are in line with the department’s research priorities and will improve LUMS’s reputation for research, full-time studentships will start in October 2023. All studentships provide a sizable living budget and a three-year fee waiver.
