The ComCashew EU REACH project aims to enable a sustainable and inclusive improvement in the null economy through the enhanced implementation of gender-sensitive climate change adaptation and mitigation practices in at least 200 Communities in the Joint Programme Area of the EU Ghana Agriculture Programme (EUGAP) by 2024.
The project will increase agricultural incomes, promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in natural communities of the Joint Programme Area by 2024
The communication officer is primarily responsible for implementing standards and guidelines for GIZ communication work described in the “Recommendations for communication by GIZ Offices. In order to achieve its objectives, the ComCashew-EU REACH project seeks the services of a highly motivated Communications Officer.
Develop communication strategies and materials on adoption of Conservation Agriculture (CA) to reach farmers and rural communities within the Project area (Upper West and three adjoining districts)
Manage a radio programme on promoting Conservation Agriculture, inform farmers in the Upper West Region about new knowledge in CA and other REACH activities
Assist in the management of the REACH “nature clubs” programme for basic schools.
Manage the exchange of information between other Projects under the
EU Ghana Agricultural Program (EUGAP) and coordinate the sharing of social media content with the European Union and other partners.
Coordinating and implement communications work (including planning communication budget – quantity, formal and material quality, impact) to support other REACH activities.
Assist in communications with the District/Municipal Assemblies(D/MAs) in general and the District/Municipal Planning and Coordinating Units(D/MPCUS) in particular.
Reporting within the management group on internal and external communication measures and participating in meetings of officers responsible for the contract and cooperation.
Minimum of a university degree in communication/journalism or comparable training
At least 3 years professional experience in the field of communication media, advertising and PR work, journalism, internal communication, research, lobbying, or similar
Excellent editing skills with experience in writing articles, features, and/or press releases (evidenced e.g, by work samples)
Experience with mass media production, in particular, radio broadcasts with experience in project and/or event management
Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office) with very good knowledge of DTP or graphics applications
Ability to express oneself very well both verbally and in writing in English; polished, target-group oriented style.
Good knowledge of the language(s) used in the Upper West Region
Very good knowledge of the cultural dimensions and undertones in the
Upper West Region and a very good understanding of the District Assembly structure and channels of communication Willingness to upskill as required by tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
